GUI Competitions

The Ulster Cup team put up a fight at home on Sunday but were unable to turnaround the 7-0 defeat they suffered away to Strabane the previous weekend. The tie finished 8-6 after Strabane secured the single point required to win the tie from the sixth match.

The Ulster Fourball team will have to try to go one step further this coming weekend as have to win all their homes matches after recording a 5-0 defeat at Rossmore on Saturday.

5th May 10 - Larne beat Greenacres ~ 4 - 1
12th May 10 - Greenacres beat Ballyclare ~ 3 1/2 - 1 /1/2

Slow Play / Punctuality

The Match & Handicap Committee under the guidance of the Council would like to inform every one of their concerns over the punctuality of members onto the tee box and the length of time to complete a round on Saturday.

We would ask all members to have paid their entrance fee and be prepared to start their round at the very least 5 minutes before your tee time. As per the club rules failure to turn up on time WILL result in a 2 shot penalty.

R&A Etiquette states: It is a group’s responsibility to keep up with the group in front. If it loses a clear hole and it is delaying the group behind, it should invite the group behind to play through, irrespective of the number of players in that group. Where a group has not lost a clear hole, but it is apparent that the group behind can play faster, it should invite the faster moving group to play through.

The Committee’s expectation is a round should take less than 4 ½ hours to complete. If required they will establish a pace of play for each 9 holes, monitor this and impose appropriate penalties.

We would also remind all members that club rules forbid play in a Saturday competition as a 2Ball. So if you are asked by the starter to accommodate other members please RESPECT his request.
